Creator house or studio?
Choose a house when you want real rooms, natural light and several looks in one place. Choose a studio when you need full control of light and sound, a built set or heavy grip. Many creators shoot in houses because one home can cover a whole content day, as long as the owner has agreed to adult production.
What is the difference?
A studio is a space built for production: controlled light, quiet walls, power for big rigs, and sets that can be dressed and struck. A creator house is a private home rented for a shoot. It looks like a real place because it is one, with a kitchen, a living room, bedrooms and often a pool or garden.
For adult film crews, photographers and independent creators who make content for platforms such as OnlyFans and Fansly, a house is often the faster way to shoot a lot of varied content in one day.
Side by side
| Private house | Studio | |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Real rooms, real views, lived in detail | Built or dressed sets, cycloramas, blank walls |
| Variety | Several looks under one roof | Depends on the sets standing that day |
| Light | Beautiful daylight, harder to control at night | Full control at any hour |
| Sound | Household and street noise to manage | Usually quiet and treated |
| Power | Ordinary home circuits | Built for lighting packages |
| Crew size | Best for small and mid sized crews within the home's limit | Can take large crews and heavy grip |
| Neighbors | Discretion and sightlines matter | Rarely a concern |
| Booking length | With us, one day up to 28 days | Varies by studio |
When a house is the better choice
- You want content that feels personal and real rather than staged.
- You plan several scenes or outfits and want different rooms for each.
- Your crew is small: a creator, a partner, a camera operator, maybe hair and makeup.
- You want daylight, a pool or a view as part of the look.
When a studio is the better choice
- You need precise lighting for long night sessions.
- You need a built set, a cyclorama or rigging overhead.
- Your crew or equipment is larger than a home can hold comfortably.
- Sound has to be clean for long dialogue scenes.
For independent creators
An independent creator who produces explicit content is a producer, and the same rules apply as for a large studio. Every performer must be 18 or older with valid photo ID, and the producer keeps the records required by 18 U.S.C. 2257. Our homes also require general liability insurance and any permits the shoot needs. If you are unsure what applies to a small shoot, check with your counsel or the permit office. Our guide to what productions need before booking sets this out step by step.
Why not just book a vacation rental?
Many short term rental hosts and platforms do not allow commercial filming without permission, and many do not allow adult production at all. Booking a home without that permission puts the shoot, the deposit and the owner in a difficult position. The homes we list belong to owners who have agreed to production use and approve each booking, and every booking comes with clear terms in writing.
