The Los Angeles shoot location checklist.
Use this checklist to move from request to wrap without surprises. Gather your dates, crew count and paperwork before you request, confirm logistics in the week before, follow the house rules on the day, and leave the home exactly as you found it.
Before you send a request
- Your dates, from one day up to 28 days, and a backup option if you have one.
- The number of people on set, cast and crew together.
- The rooms and outdoor areas you need, and the scenes planned for each.
- Look references: modern, mid century, Spanish, minimal, or open to suggestions.
- Your preferred area, such as the Valley, the Hollywood Hills or the Westside.
- Call times and an estimate of the number of vehicles.
Send it all through a home's booking form on the locations page, or through the general request form if you would like us to suggest a home.
Paperwork
- Every performer is 18 or older with valid government issued photo ID.
- The producer creates and keeps the records required by 18 U.S.C. 2257.
- A certificate of general liability insurance covering the full booking, sent to us before the first shoot day.
- Any film permits the shoot requires, with a copy sent to us before the first shoot day. In Los Angeles, permits are issued through FilmLA. If you are unsure, check with your counsel or the permit office.
More detail is in what productions need before booking.
When your approval arrives
- Read the payment, deposit and cancellation terms in the written approval.
- Check the approved dates, times, rooms and crew limit against your schedule.
- Meet the payment and deposit terms so the booking is held.
- Keep the address and access details to the people who need them.
The week before
- Share call times and the parking plan with everyone on set.
- Plan the load in route and where gear will be staged.
- Plan power: which fixtures, how many, and which circuits.
- Pack floor protection, furniture pads and gaffer tape that will not mark surfaces.
- Arrange catering, water and a trash plan, including taking trash away.
- Agree any changes to dates, crew size or scope with us in writing.
On the shoot day
- Stay within the crew limit and the approved rooms, areas and times.
- No smoking and nothing illegal in the home or on the property.
- Keep noise down and park considerately, following our parking instructions.
- No scene visible to neighbors or from the street unless approved in writing beforehand.
- Follow any reasonable instruction from our team, who are on site or on call.
At wrap
- Return furniture to its place. Photos taken at load in make this easy.
- Remove all equipment and rubbish.
- Leave the home clean.
- Report any damage to us right away.
